Queen Elizabeth II is an icon of her era and her nation, and she has played a pivotal role in the history of the British monarchy. The official celebration of her 80th birthday will be on the 17th of June, 2006. In honor of the event, WPA is highlighting important moments in the Queen’s life in a new footage exhibit. Ranging from rare 1920s footage to brilliant color scenes of the late ’60s and early ’70s, this retrospective is culled from the prestigious British Pathe newsreels collection - represented exclusively by the WPA Film Library.
