Many fans line up at the polo grounds on the eve of the inaugural, huddling in overcoats through the dark hours of a marrow-chilling night. Babe Ruth seated in stands watching game waves to camera. The Yankees draw first blood, with a homer slammed out by right-fielder Selkirk from the pitch Bo Carl Hubbell who opposes Yankee Hurler Ruffing on the mound. But Bartell evens the score with a home-run at the end of the fifth, and in an eighth-inning batting spree, the Giants hoist their winning tally to six runs. | |
