| Description: | 1st Round Ends: Mr. K. Says Farewell, Awaits Ike in Spring. "Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev ends his hectic, historic visit to America, after talks with Ike at Camp David that the President says ended the threat to West Berlin. Taking his leave at Andrews Air Force Base, Mr. K. is in good humor, calling for more OK's in Russo-American relations." At Blair House, President Dwight D. Eisenhower escorts Khrushchev from car, shakes hands with several men including Mr. K.; Khrushchev and others wave goodbye as Ike departs. Nighttime at Andrews AFB: Khrushchev speaks at microphones (nat sound), smiling Vice-President Richard M. Nixon by his side; translator speaks in English: "From the bottom of my heart, I want to express my gratitude for your kind hospitality, for your bread and salt, as they say in our country. I hope that in the relationships between our two countries, we will be able to use more and more often the good, short American word, 'OK'. Until we meet again, friends." Nikita and Nixon shake hands. | |
