| Description: | A MIRTHQUAKE OF TWENTY YEARS AGO (aka FLYPAPER COMEDY) An early comedy film - fun and frolics with flypaper and comedian Max Linder. Comedian Max Linder stars in short comedy from 1910s. Opens with baker putting down some pieces of flypaper in his shop. Max enters; picks up package; gets flypaper stuck on foot. Sits in chair while baker pulls paper off; and gets another piece stuck on the seat of his trousers. Bends over; leans on table; baker pulls paper off his pants. Now he has another piece stuck on his sleeve; but he exits. Max arrives at home of girlfriend; her folks. Greetings; gives package of sweets; etc. He notices paper on sleeve; pulls it off; but it sticks on his hand--tries to fling it away repeatedly while girl impatiently tries to get his attention. Dinnertime. Max stamps on paper to get it off hand; now it's on his foot. But his napkin sticks to his hand; then his fork; then glass; then a serving plate- he and father get into tug of war with plate; father slaps him; plate is spilled; general chaos; angry mother and father chase him out the door. He collides with baker; ends up covered with more flypaper; cream; etc. | |
