| Description: | "Winchcombe, Glos. 'A One Man Hunt'! Captain Jocelyn Lucas 'runs his own hunt' with a sporting little pack of Sealyhams, led by pair of Basset Hounds." Winchcombe, Gloucestershire. A man runs out of a building on a farm with a pack of small dogs - mainly Sealyhams, and two Basset hounds. C/U as the dogs are picked up and loaded into a cage in the trunk of a car. A sign behind the car reads: "Ilmer - Sealyham Kennels. Farmcote, Winchcombe, Glos." The man putting the dogs into the cage doesn't see to be very gentle with them as he closes the cage door. A convoy of seven cars are seen driving down a country lane. The cars come to a stop and the dogs are unloaded. The dogs and a small group of people - men and women all dressed in tweeds - set off across a field. It appears that the dogs have picked up a scent and the people chase after them on foot. The dogs run about all over the place - not a disciplined pack by any means. The hunters wander around trying to keep a direction. The basset hounds eventually set off after a scent and the Sealyhams and the hunters set off after them. Doesn't look like an efficient way of hunting - but it's probably good exercise. | |
