| Description: | "Papier-Mache Novelty". Making Papier-Mache Bowls MS woman sits at table, pours water into enamel bowl, then starts to tear up scraps of paper and toss them into the bowl. CU in smaller bowl she makes a paste: she scoops spoonful of flour, pours water from pitcher, pours hot water from kettle while stirring. MCU she uses another bowl for the mold. She takes one of the damp paper scraps, lays it inside the bowl, then paints some of the paste on it. She continues, adding more scraps and paste. Cut to later, the bowl now filled w/ the pasted scraps, w/ bits sticking up all round the rim; she trims these off. MS she sets bowl on shelf of oven to heat it. CU back at table, she removes the papier-mache bowl from the mold. She trims round edge w/ razor, then sands the bowl. Next, she takes smaller rounded piece of papier-mache, which is to be the lid, and attaches a knob on top. MS she paints designs on bowl. CU same, painting flowers, etc. on the bowl. CU the finished product; woman lifts lid to show inside. MS table covered w/ various items made of papier-mache. | |
