| Description: | A PEEP AT BABES IN THE WOOD Scenes from the pantomime Babes in the Wood starring the Dolly Sisters and Albert Bruno. New Oxford Theatre. The fabulous Dolly Sisters, dressed as the Babes in the Wood do a dance. Dolly Sisters on stage (in costumes of an earlier century , one dressed as a man) performing what the titles call "a dainty old world Dance"; no set only curtain in BG. CU of one of the Dolly sisters with white headband & wide-eyed innocence holding old-fashioned doll up to her cheek. She kisses doll.C/Us of the wicked Baron played by Albert Bruno, "the Bad Baron," talking while screwing his face up in a murderous expression. The top of head is bald but w/ one curl hanging over forehead , wicked frowning eyebrows, missing teeth. Obviously he represents evil. One of the Babes smokes a cigarette - coughing and spluttering to comic effect. The Dolly Sisters and Albert Bruno dance together. The Bad Baron sitting on a bench between the 2 women, the 1dressed as little girl w/ doll sits almost on his lap, the other dressed like little boy in short pants & jacket. The 3 get up & do a dance together; during dance the "kids" grab the Baron's legs & make him fall down. They hide behind bench. He gets up, starts after them. | |
