| Description: | A WEDDING IN HUNGARY Traditional wedding celebrations in Hungary. Hungary Other young women preparing bride for a wedding. MS 3 women put headdress on the young bride's head; the women are all wearing beautiful shawls with intricate embroidery and thick fringe. MLS man decorating team of horses, tying white ribbons or scarves on the side of their heads; sod roof building in BG. CU 2 horses heads, with scarves tied just behind the blinders. LS men carry furniture out of sod roof house and load it onto wagon, to be taken to the newly married couple's new home; women and children watch. MLS 2 men and several small children. The little girls especially look like they're bundled up in lots of layers of brightly patterned skirts and jackets and shawls, with scarves like babushkas tied on their heads). An older boy carries a chair into house. LS pan on people walking past house, on their way to church; lots of great national costumes. The girls in long patterned pleated skirts with long aprons, blouses with big puffy short sleeves - some like epaulettes. A few of the women wear more modern clothing. Most of the men's outfits are far less spectacular, though some seem to have rather tall narrow feathers or branches sticking straight up from their hats! MS group walking toward camera: boy c. age 12 with mother, followed by several other women including the bride in her fabulous headdress. MCU 2 girls sitting on wagon, both wearing these sort of heavily fringed epaulettes over their blouses; they switch between laughing and trying to look serious. LS women gathered outside door of church. The reception held outdoors w/ cottage in BG. Bride and groom start to dance, soon joined by other couples, to music provided by band of wind instruments and a guy banging a bass drum. Some of the men wear long straight aprons, with fancy designs on bottom part, over their trousers. Closer shot of the band, which includes some unusual versions of brass instruments. MS cute small boy and girl c. ages 2-3 in traditional costumes dance together. More of adult couples dancing around the yard. MLS group of men pose - all wearing traditional Hungarian costumes, including hats like too-small bowlers perched on top of their heads, and the long embroidered aprons which hide their trousers in this shot so it looks like they're in skirts. Shot from outside circle of men who stand swaying back & forth. MS 3 young men swaying back and forth. They're wearing these great outfits, with vests worn over shirts with very wide sleeves, trimmed with lots of embroidery and other ornamentation. MLS couples dancing a bouncy dance. | |
