| Description: | A WOMAN MANNED FIRE BRIGADE Women fire-fighters do their stuff - feeble jokes about their abilities in intertitles. Reading, Berkshire Women in firefighter's uniforms (with skirts) run toward small fire engine/pump and pull it after them. Shot of the women heading away pulling the pump through what looks like industrial or warehouse area. LS women with engine in front of low brick wall; 2 women run toward camera, each pulling a firehose with her. MS women spraying water from the firehoses. Water spraying up into air above courtyard. Interior scene: shadows of woman firefighter standing by window and lifting chute to drop it out; woman being rescued gets out of bed. Tilt up shot from outside: chute comes unfolding out from upper window. Back to interior: firewoman helps "victim" climb into chute. Exterior tilt up LS: the woman enters chute and goes sliding down; pan down chute as she slides inside it to the bottom where 5 women and 1 man hold the bottom. The victim, wearing bathrobe, climbs out end of chute. Shot looking up to window again: a rope is now tossed out; can see glimpse of firefighter, then another woman "victim" climbs out window and slides down the rope; again, pan w/ her as she slides down and is helped at bottom by a fireman. Shot from window looking down to 18-20 people - both the firefighters and some volunteer men in civilian clothing - holding a square canvas tarp. Woman in bathrobe jumps down and is caught safely. | |
