| Description: | ACROBATICS Rehearsals for World's Fair Circus at Royal Agricultural Hall in London, 1932. London Row of 6 young (early teens?) girls pose standing in circus ring holding onto ropes which hang from above. The girls are wearing identical bulging tights and leotards, with little hats, colored belts and collars, shoes with laces around their ankles. WS from balcony: girls climb the ropes up to a wide hanging bar; in BG below are other circus performers in ring, rows of empty seats, etc. The 6 girls perform stunts in unison on the bar. MS woman in sparkly bikini top and shorts, with wide leather belt, stand in ring watching and smiling; behind her 2 clowns practice their routine. MLS tilt up: the woman from last shot balances on tightrope. She has safety rope attached to her leather belt. Shot from directly below tightrope looking up at girl walking, with parasol; glass ceiling above. MCU short clown watching; taller clown knocks top hat off his head. MLS tightrope walker walking backward up sloping rope. LS she stands on tightrope with one foot in front of the other, then carefully lowers herself, sits down on tightrope with bent knees, and slides down the tightrope like it's a slide! MCU clown watches, looking upward. Side view tightrope walker sliding down the rope in sitting position. Next, pan on her as she slides backward in standing "lunge" position down steeply angled rope, and is caught by a few men at the lower end of the rope. WS looking across the stadium at a steep toboggan slide with a little scoop on the end. A stuntman on a sled comes zooming down the run, comes flying off the jump, and the man and sled do a flip over the ring, landing in a net in FG. Shot of same stunt from other side. | |
