Description:CU of his three sons Adlai Stevenson Junior, Bordenson Stevenson and John Fell Stevenson. CU Adlai Stevenson Junior speaking about his father running for Presidency. “I think, I know we always felt very close to dad and I think, for him, the family has always came first before politics. I know before he decided to run for the Presidency he talked all about it with us. He wanted to be sure that we didn’t think it would hurt our lives. And I don’t think it was until he was pretty confident that it wasn’t going to damage our lives that he decided to run for the Presidency. Don’t you think?” CU Bordenson Stevenson saying, "I agree with you, Adlai. One thing that never fails to amaze me is Dad’s incredible energy. He simply never tires out. I’ve just completed two years in the army, but traveling with Dad still wears me out. On one matter though, I think I can speak for each member of the family, and that is if Dad makes half as good a president as he does a father, he’d be the best President this country ever had." CU John Fell Stevenson speaking, "When Dad does become President, I think he’ll probably be one of the most athletic Presidents we’ve ever had. He loves to play tennis and plays a very good game. As a matter of fact none of us have ever beaten him. He also loves other sports, like hunting and fishing and trap shooting. And he’s a very good shot. Another sport that he likes that most people don’t realize is golf. And he’s very good at golf but he very seldom has any time to play golf any more."

CU Adlai Stevenson speaking about the cost of living. "This new Democratic administration will be dedicated to establishing a workable, realistic partnership between nations, in which disputes are settled by conciliation not violence and in which the weapons of death are limited and controlled. At the same time there are problems at home which cry out for our attention. I say that we overlooked at our apparel, the current price inflation which has brought the cost of living to the highest point in our history. Inflation cuts the value of your dollars, the value of your insurance, your government bonds, your social security. The millions who live on fixed incomes are the worse sufferers, but we are all victims because we are all consumers. Yes, I think there’s much to be done. We must see to it the small family farm gets their fair share of the national prosperity. We must see to it that the small business man gets the help that he needs to survive in this time of giants. We must provide security in their old age for our elder citizens. And we must face the grim fact that today 30 million Americans live in families trying to make ends meet on less than $2000 a year. We must increase the minimum wage for working men and women; we must fight sickness and disease the way we fight war. For in both cases the issues are life and death and that my friends is what this election is all about. I say it is time to listen again to our hearts, to speak again our ideas. Thank you."
