New York at the United Nations. A security counsel meets in response to the Congo's plea for a UN Force to restore order. Replacing the Belgium paratroops. With many hours passing, and 6 1/2 hours later the resolution comes to a vote. It's 8 votes to none - with Britain, France and China abstaining. The counsel authorizes Secretary General, Dag Hammarskjold to send peace forces to the troubled Congo. | |
