| Description: | World War One; recreation; wacky contests. Recovering wounded New Zealanders hold sports meeting. Very funny silly stuff; so it is unfortunate that the quality is so poor. Opens with rope climbing contest; in which contestants shinny up a rope; scoot along a horizontal pole and come down a rope at the other end--several guys do this at once; while a crowd of other soldiers watch. Next; a wheelbarrow race (in which one guy holds the other's legs) coming toward camera. After that; boxing. Competitors wear regular clothes; sweaters and trousers; they fight while crowd forms circle around them. Finally; one of those silly contests in which 2 guys straddle a pole; trying to knock each other off. Slapstick comedy. Various competitors on this "sport". | |
