| Description: | Danag Shelled (Unable to read xerox script) Damaged planes at Da Nang Air Base are one result in long range rocket shelling attack by Viet Cong which also destroyed several military buildings. A powerful new Russian made weapon is blamed. Two hundred homes in a village nearby were leveled as the VC used the heaviest and most powerful ground weapons of the war so far. The attack came from about 135 rocket launching positions, some of them as far away as 7-miles. Experts say; Soviet made104 millimeter rockets of great range and bursting power inflicted the damage. Following in the wake of the blasting, shock, grief and the realization of death. Forty seven were killed and more than one hundred wounded. Conventional mortars were also used in the pre-dawn bombing, but the long range rockets were responsible for the high death toll, while survivors mourned the victims, steps are being taken to prevent similar attacks.
