| Description: | Acrobatic Dance by Alder & Partner, 1920s. Stage with heavily gathered curtains in BG, palm on either side. 2 women climb into an angled position, one holding the other up. Both of them are much heftier than todays gymnasts. Dissolve to 1 of the women doing series of backward walkovers, then a cartwheel to exit rt., while other watches. Same woman does series of one-handed cartwheels; the other scoots along with her holding the hand that doesn't touch floor & somehow helping her to turn over. Next she does series of front walkovers across stage. The two women come out as a strange beast- -one walking bent over on her hands & feet, the other facing opposite direction, w/ her legs bent backward & locked round the other's waist and her hands hanging onto the other's ankles. They walk around the stage in this contortion. Now comes the dance part: the helper dances in one spot, doing high kicks, while the other does acrobatics across stage. Then more assisted one-hand cartwheels. Entertainment. | |
