L/S of a garden with lots of pink and red flowers, Mrs Bessie Dodd enters the frame carrying a small wicker basket with red rose petals in. She starts to pick some more petals from the roses. M/S of her picking the petals and putting them in her basket. C/U of the roses with her hand coming in and picking them. C/U of her face, there are pretty flowers in the background. M/S as she finishes picking the petals and walks away. The narrator suggests a few things that could be done with rose petals once they have started to fade, like throwing them at weddings or pressing them in books. Interior. C/U of another basket on a table, this one contains lots of bramble tips, hands are seen picking through the leaves and breaking some off. M/S to reveal the hands belong to Mrs Peggy Johns, who is putting them into a large pan. She is in a kitchen and there is another lady in the background picking up a cup and filling it from a keg on the windowsill. There are various bottles and demijohns around the room. M/S of a younger lady, Dr Rene Puddifoot sat at the kitchen table topping and tailing carrots. She picks up a grater and starts to grate the carrot into a dish. There are some lemons on the table and a demijohn covered in a tea towel. The narrator says these people are a group of amateur wine makers and they make alcohol out of all sorts including Bramble Tip wine, orange wine, tea wine and carrot whisky. C/U of hands grating the carrot into the dish. C/U of Rene's face as she is doing it. C/U of Frank Harris's face looking down, a demijohn with an airlock on the top is on the left, the camera moves down to show he is grating orange peel into a dish. M/S of three elderly women in the kitchen, Mrs Ada Izzard, Mrs Daisy Spratt and Mrs Joyce Warehand, Ada is taking the rose petals out of the basket and putting them into a big pot, Joyce brings a pan over to the table. The narrator warns us not to try and sell our home-made wine or we will be in trouble with H.M. Customs and Excise. C/U of hands filling the pot with rose petals, there are various types of fruit on the table around it. Ada picks up a wooden spatula and starts stirring the petals into the water. M/S as she carries it over to the stove. The two other ladies are working at a table in the background, there is an empty demijohn with a funnel in the top. C/U of a hand turning the knob on a hot plate. M/S of Ada stirring the petals in. C/U of her face looking down at them. C/U from above of the petals after they have been simmered and lost all their colour, the pan is removed from the hot plate. M/S of Ada carrying the pan over to the table, she puts it down and stirs it again. She picks up the pan and strains it through some linen into a large bowl. Daisy , who is stood next to her grating a lemon stops and holds the linen tight as Ada pours. She puts the pan down and they both take up the edges of the linen and start to fold it up. She picks it up to let it finish draining. C/U shot from above of the red wine in the bowl, Ada picks up the spatula and presses it against the linen bundle to get all the excess out. A hand comes in and adds sugar and water mixture from a pan. Another pair of hands add lemon juice from the juicer through a sieve. Ada removes the spatula and Daisy dips a red jug into the mixture and pours it into a funnel in the top of a demijohn. M/S of her pouring it in. C/U of the neck of the demijohn being filled through the funnel. Hands put a swab of cotton wool in the top. C/U of a pair of hands putting a linen filter into a funnel and picking up a jug of the wine, it is poured into the jar. M/S of two men stood at the table, Douglas Sinclair is pouring some wine into a jug and Ernest Goodwin is pouring liquid paraffin through a filter into the airlock on top of the demijohn. C/U of his hands pouring in the paraffin. C/U of his face as he bends down to look at his work. C/U of the wine fizzing up to the top of the demijohn. The camera moves up to show the paraffin moving slowly round the airlock. M/S of two other men sat at a table with several bottles of wine. John Yeman is siphoning Elderberry wine into bottles from a demijohn. The other, Peter Gardiner picks up a wooden corker and attaches it to the top of the bottle. He hits the plunger down hard. M/S of wine bottles in several colours and shapes on the table, all labelled. C/U of three bottles, they are labelled 'Mead' which is yellow; 'Wheat wine' which is red; and 'Elderflower wine' which is clear. M/S of hands pouring elderberry wine from a bottle into some small glasses on a tray, she puts the bottle down and picks up the tray. L/S of a group of people testing the wine. Two ladies take the glasses from the tray. C/U of Douglas and Peggy toasting each other with glasses of wine. C/U of Rene testing the wine and looking pleased.
