| Description: | ANIMAL BEAUTICIAN Valerie Phillips grooms dogs, an orang-utan and a leopard on a beauty round Southport, Lancashire. C/U of a white poodle enjoying having its hair and ears combed with it's tongue hanging out. M/S as we see Valerie Phillips in Southport, Lancashire grooming the dog on a table on a lawn; she sets the dog down on the grass and it runs off as another lady enters shot with a larger dog on a lead, a creamy-coloured Pyrenean mountain dog called Carlos. Commentator tells us Valerie "has her own kennels and a cattery housing over 90 animals, tackles anything from a shampoo and set to a fashionable colour rinse". VP lifts the dog into a bath on the ground then M/Ss and C/Us as we see Carlos "being treated to the colour of the season - which happens to be Nasturtium"; VP brushes a ginger coloured liquid dye onto the poor dog! Cut to M/S as VP leads the finished ginger Carlos to the table and he jumps onto it; she combs his face fur. M/Ss of a scooter outside a bungalow; VP comes out through the garden gate and gets onto the bike; starts it up and drives off; we see her driving along the road. M/S of the tower of the Pleasureland building at Southport; VP enters shot on scooter and we pan right with her to show her park outside the zoo and goes in. M/S of an orang-utan monkey called Porky in the zoo grounds with a keeper; VP enters shot and lifts Porky into a tin bath; M/Ss and C/Us as she washes him - he likes biting the sponge. M/S of a beautiful leopard lying on top of a hutch with a chain and collar round it's neck; VP enters shot and starts to brush his fur. Commentator says "This chap, from the jungles of East Benegal, is called Oheifie, and if you're a film fan you might have recognised him - he's appeared in a number, including the latest series of Tarzan films". C/Us of VP brushing him and the leopard growling - amazing whiskers! | |
