| Description: | 07:00:33:- MS of Doctor Locke, a veterinarian and professor at the University of Illinois-Champagne/Urbana, standing in a large and well-lit examination room of the facility. He talks to the camera about a urinary tract infection outbreak in mares and cattle (the hows and whats and whys of the disease) and if chocolate is as harmful to horses as it is to dogs. 07:07:07:- Castration operation: MS of an unconscious bull lying on its back in a large operating room of the veterinary facility. Yes, that's right, an unconscious bull lying on its back, having its,um, testicles removed due to their, uh, relocation to its abdomen. Very weird material. The bull is blissfully knocked out, its mouth agape, its body perfectly still. Wires and monitors are attached to its body as several students and professionals attend to the procedure. Zoom out to wide MS of the scene. The bull's hind legs are spread while two surgeons remove the infected testicles (yuk). Note that the bull's hooves are wrapped in clear sterile booties and the front legs are bent in the way a dog's bend when pretending to be dead. Very surreal scene, but sort of funny. Zoom in to CU's of the blue med tarp spread at point of incision, the bull's hooves (bootied), the bull's head with respirator jutting out of mouth, and the removed testicle on a medical tray. Cut to CU of the industrial Spanmaster lifting medical gurney, used for lifting large animals (similar to the one used by morticians and pathologists); zoom out to tight LS of the surgical scene. MS's of the doctors' heads as they perform an operation. CU of an IV drip, zoom out to resume former shot. | |
