| Description: | Demonstrations/rallies. Protest march in Belgium by "Soldiers of Leopold". Occasion unknown; most signs in Flemish. People walking down street carrying banners. Automobiles & horse-drawn vehicles drive in procession. Demonstrators come marching through Grand' Place. Girls dressed in white carry large flags w/ various designs. Many men in civilian dress follow. Procession continues. Man carries effigy of German soldier hanging from scaffold. Someone else carries a joke picture on a post of f2 figures; the one in back has a moveable leg and keeps kicking the other in the behind. Another sign seems to show a man chasing a German soldier. There is one sign in French which says "we are resolved to act if the government doesn't". Closer shot of men posing underneath the sign. Although it is not apparent what this is exactly about - -maybe Germany's non-payment of reparations; obviously it has something to do w/ anti-German feeling (to put it mildly). | |
