| Description: | Same as catalog # 312618 ANTI-VIETNAM DEMONSTRATIONS IN WASHINGTON AND SAN FRANCISCO Washington DC LS of Lincoln Memorial over the reflecting pool. LS Washington Monument across pool with crown in f/g, camera pans crowd revealing demonstrators gathering on all sides of pool. Quick shot shows protestors on steps of Lincoln Memorial itself. Switch to speaker, conservatively dressed middle-aged man with glasses, addressing crowd on the steps of the memorial with banner "Support our GIs...Bring Them Home Now" stretched out behind him. Immediately afterwards, a fight breaks out in front of the podium as, perhaps, someone tried rushing the speaker; a younger man tries to yell something to the reporters gathered as he is being led away. One more shot captures the reflecting pool with the Washington Monument on the opposite side. Next, a MS of 3 Military policemen standing at alert ease next to a sawhorse blocking a highway exit ramp to the Pentagon. Back to a very large number of demonstrators marching down the street preceded by photographers and carrying banners against the war. There is one CU from behind a policeman clutching his night stick. Back to two rows of military policemen ahead at a makeshift roadblock being checked by a superior. The demonstrators seem to be making their way towards the roadblock. Cuts to a faceoff between the two parties and scenes of protestors being led off by police while police reinforcements rush in. One demonstrator is taken inside a waiting van as the camera pulls back to an aerial view of the Pentagon with the showdown in the street visible in the background. San Francisco, California Contingent of uniformed and flag bearing veterans gathers at Grand Army Plaza for a parade, with a close-up of JFK's "Ask not..." phrase engraved in a nearby monument. MS veteran's parade begins with the leading group bearing flags towards camera. Some wear full uniforms, some wearing only the Legionaire's cap. MS crowd cutaways, also waving flags, cheers the veterans. MS veterans march down the street, some also carrying a "Support Our Troops" banner. MS of young couple with stroller and dog pass camera. MS parents, children, and others join the parade behind the veterans. CU of a father and son watching the parade, the boy wearing a "God Bless America" button. Tilt down from buildings into park as crowd gathers for rally. CU older veteran , with cap, addressing crowd. Some good CUs of Middle American faces follow. WS pan buildings. | |
