London, England LS front diag view: Group of c. 20-25 girls c. ages 5-12(?) dancing in rows on hardwood floor of dance studio; the girls, in identical white dresses, are doing a very common ballet exercise, all moving in unison, jumping up and down & switching between 5th position & 2th position. MLS from behind 2 girls c. age 5-6 dancing in front of mirror; can see reflection of the 2 kids and of adult woman teacher dancing behind them. They are doing battement tendu's - exercise stretching leg to front, side or back, sliding foot out until only toe is touching floor- - and also changing arm positions. LS class of 8 older girls - teenagers - dancers stay in 5th position while doing series of graceful arm movements and bows; other girls watch, sitting on floor & standing along wall. MLS same, looking over heads of girls sitting on floor to the girls dancing on pointe (on toes), doing switching between wide 2nd (ciseaux) & 5th (sous-su) w/ pliTs in between. LS same class, adage (slow) part of class. Dancers do arabesque & do promenade turn (rotate slowly by moving heel of the foot they're standing on), then go on into arabesque (nearly horizontal position). MLS 5 of these girls do a bunch of pirouettes; some of them start to get dizzy after a while. The group of 8 cross the floor toward camera doing jetTs crossing back and forth Ends with a whimsical LS looking across river at girls dancing along on opposite bank.
