| Description: | Hopping samba band practices in apartment (8) 00:07:38:- MS's inside an apartment as several musicians rehearse. They are part of a samba band: a stand-up bass player, two percussionists (one plays congas, other plays clave and cowbell), a pianist, baritone sax player, trombonist, trumpet player (maybe two), and a coronet player. Lots of hot horns. Talented fellows, certainly professional. A man with dreads, wearing a beret, conducts them (must be the songwriter as be is seen changing sheet music notes on the piano). They're running through new material. Good CU's of conga players smiling and banging away. Great CU of the pianist's hands as he lays down a traditional jazz piano line, heavy on the Latin accents. CU of the bandleader giving instructions, smoking a hand-rolled cigarette. High angle CU of a percussionist playing a cowbell with a clave, pan right to MS of the piano player behind the Steinberg, pan back to the percussionist. Low angle sideview MS of the pianist playing. Low angle MS of the percussionists playing, improvising with the bassist. Low angle MS of the bassist playing. CU's of the trombone player, as well as the shiny bell of the instrument. Many candid CU's of the musicians in between takes, looking around, talking, tuning, etc. Great CU's of the horn players and their instruments (fingers on keys, mouths on reeds or mouthpiece, etc.) High angle MS's and CU's of the men writing notes on sheet music. | |
