| Description: | King's Arms pub, Kingston, Greater London. Skittles is a game a bit like bowling in the US. The object is to knock down pins set up at the end of an alley. Instead of a bowling ball, a large flat disk, called a cheese, is used. They use 9 pins instead of 10. M/S photograph of old skittles team, pan up to sign "Lignum Vitae". M/S of current team arriving. Various shots as new members are told how to handle the cheeses made from hard wood. A man takes aim and throws, he knocks two skittles down. Another new member tries and knocks all 9 down, C/U man applauding, another stands the skittles up again. When all nine are knocked down everyone has a pint of "good beer" they push him to the bar. M/S as he is lifted up by two men and bumped on the cheeses, another tradition. Various shots of men laughing. Various shots of the game, all the skittles are knocked down again and some of the men drink up quickly so they can have the next round of beer. | |
