| Description: | BELOW THE FROST LINE Experiment shows how ice forms then an ice skating rink and an ice cream maker. Ice: a "Thermo Refrigerator", man ice skating, homemade ice cream machine. Refrigeration United Kingdom MCU man's hand reaches into screen and lights a pilot which looks like coiled pipe attached to a torpedo shaped thing; other pipes twisting around. MCU pipe bending back and forth w. U-turns at sides - not coils exactly but sometimes called that when on a fridge. Title: "The heat in this thermo-refrigerator produces intense cold!" refrigeration. Time lapse shots of the pipe becoming covered w/ ice. Wider shot of same. MCU man scraping frost off the pipe. Title: "Frost to some people means skating ice." LS man ice skating, whirling round an outdoor rink dressed in dark one-piece suit and a sort of jester's cap. Title: "And others still use ice to make other sorts of ice." MCU hand putting a large scoop of crushed ice into an opening in a cylinder, part of an ice cream machine. Then replaces cover over opening. MS woman pouring bowl of some soupy stuff into the machine. MCU while turning a crank which makes the cylinder rotate, the woman tilts down part of machine; the stuff oozes out, landing on the large cylinder which has smaller cylinders around it turning in opposite direction. MCU woman pushes a piece of the ice cream maker which presses against the cylinder like a brake and scrapes the ice cream off in narrow sheets like rolled dough; it is caught in a container below. MS the woman scoops ice cream out and makes ice cream sandwiches; several hands are reaching eagerly from left. (domestic, inventions, machines, household appliances, food, dairy) | |
