| Description: | BIRD VIRTUOSOS Trained birds perform various tricks. Canary, parakeet, oriole(?), etc. doing tricks on a variety of miniature gymnastic equipment. United Kingdom "This kindly training of birds is a difficult job - some birds are little disposed to obedience and a lot of patience is required..." MLS the birds' trainer, a man wearing tails stands behind table which holds various items; top and sides of an ornate frame behind him. CU bird hopping up a ladder and down other side, then back again. CU a frame sort of like a bridge: the bird climbs up on inside of the legs, then across, hanging on the underside. "The "Ring" jump is a good test." MCU bird jumps through a series of small rings. "And the horizontal bar..." The bird performs on another little contraption. Here it does somersaults and flips around each of 3 horizontal bars, then turns round and repeats this on the way back. On the last bar he keeps going, flipping over and over. Trainer uses a little stick to make the animals perform their stunts. "The seesaw gives the bird an opportunity to show its intelligence and sense of balance..." Two birds play on a see saw. MCU birds on see-saw, actually the birds on the ends are barely seen. A bird in the middle moves back and forth to make the see-saw move. "And so to bed..." MLS man standing behind table w/ his troupe of birds on it. He shoos them over to rt. CU birds going into little house. Man closes doors behind them. One bird flies through upper windows and the man closes the shutters. | |
