| Description: | Tape 315 Part 1 See also catalog # 52821 "America. Bonus Army "Routed". Troops, tanks & tear gas used to evict 8,000 War Veterans in Washington." Washington DC, United States of America. Policemen with batons drag away a protester. A large crowd of protesters (WWI veterans) stand on one side of the road, police are there for crowd control. The Capitol Building is visible in the background. Men of the National guard are riding their horses down the street. The are followed by several small tanks. Armed guardsmen move protesters back. Long view of guardsmen - from the plumes of smoke rising it looks as if they are firing tear gas canisters at the demonstration. Guardsmen, wearing gas masks, run along the street. LS a guardsman throws a smoke / tear gas canister. " 'The U.S. Bonus Army' besieging the Capitol despite great last stand fails to force Congress to make cash payments." Large amount of male protesters (some with American Flags) climb the steps of the Capitol building. Nice shot of the dome of the Capitol Building tilting down the facade. The immense size of the building makes the swarm of protesters look very small. A huge mass of men line the front steps and continue to surround the entire area. Cool elevated shot were the camera pulls back to reveal the masses. Overall great footage of this intense protest. | |
