| Description: | BOXING FEVER A man is over come with boxing fever after winning bout in a fairground booth. London "Boxing booth" at fairground; barker & helpers exhorting crowd to try boxing champion "Bill Bashem"; with reward of 5 pounds to any man who stays 3 rounds. Men crowding into the tent. Scene inside tent, ring in FG with small crowd or spectators behind it watching. 1st man is knocked out in 2nd round. A very excited aggressive man; who has been standing on the bench cheering; now volunteers. He boxes in a energetic comic way; jumping up & down etc.; & ends up knocking out the champ! He is so overcome with "Boxing Fever" that he runs out; still wearing boxing gloves; & punches the barker & boy on platform beating a drum. He runs down the street with jerky motions;like he's having a fit; shadow-boxing & punching everyone he sees; who all chase him: men w/ sandwich-board advertising signs; man at a bookstall; a donkey(!) the cart driver; a policeman.... he punches a man on a bicycle; sending bike rolling backwards....knocks over baby carriage; pushes a soldier into the river; punches a dummy through shop window. More film of crazy boxer eluding the chasers. But- -he sees a bar and stops in for a drink. He comes out in an alcoholic haze; drunkenly throwing punches which spin him around! He staggers and twirls home. His wife wakes up & boxes w/ him; she nearly beats him up. Finally he ends up on his knees to her. | |
