| Description: | BOY HORSEMAN (aka BOY RIDER) A story about a five year old boy who is a talented horse rider. Pyecombe, Sussex. M/S of some donkeys in a pen eating hay, a small boy runs up to them and climbs up the side to get a better view. C/U of the boy's profile, he is Graham Barnett aged 5, he grabs a cowboy hat from the side of the pen and puts it on. M/S from behind the donkeys of Graham running round and opening the door to the pen, he goes in and herds the donkeys to one side. M/S of Graham hitting the donkeys with a stick. L/S of a farmyard, the donkeys come out of the gate and the instructor Arthur Williams aged 30 wearing a flat cap, closes the gate behind them, Graham is stood by him. M/S following a donkey across the yard, some stables are visible in the background. M/S of the donkeys milling about, Arthur grabs hold of one called Garryowen and lifts Graham onto its back, it sets off at a trot and the camera follows it. L/S of Graham riding round on the donkey and hitting it with a stick. He rides back towards the farmyard. M/S of his brother Tony who is 12, watching him from the side. M/S of Graham riding up to Arthur who takes hold of the donkey, M/S of him adjusting Graham's leg on the donkey, C/U of Graham's face, he is still wearing his cowboy hat. C/U of Arthur's face as he talks to Graham, another C/U of Graham listening and nodding. C/U of the donkey's head. L/S of Arthur grabbing a donkey for Tony to ride, he just manages to get on but the donkey runs away and he falls off. M/S of Arthur and Tony chasing the donkey, Arthur catches it and holds it steady while Tony climbs on. M/S of the donkey bucking and Tony falling off again. This is to demonstrate how difficult it is and how Graham has a special talent. Graham is riding around in the background. M/S of Arthur's sister Gladys leading a big white horse called Jahan up to him, he takes the reins and gives them to Graham. Gladys walks away from the horse. Arthur stands behind Graham and pats Jahan. C/U of Graham holding the reins. C/U of Jahan's legs as he trots round in a circle. C/U of Graham again. C/U of Jahan's head as he is trotting. L/S of him in the paddock running round with Graham holding the reins, the horse comes to a stop and Arthur enters the paddock and slips a bridle over Jahan's head. He lifts Graham onto Jahan and the horse sets off, M/S of Graham on the horse lurching towards the camera, it passes and walks round. C/U of Graham's mum and two of her friends watching and smiling. Various shots of Graham on the horse riding round. C/U of his mum's face as she watches him. L/S of Arthur getting Jahan to rear up and prance about a couple of times, Graham's hat falls over his eyes so Arthur puts it straight then gets Jahan to dance again. | |
