| Description: | This raw footage of Queen Ida and the Bon Temps Zydeco Band is primarily shots from behind the bands and medium and long shots from the front and sides. There are a good amount of audience shots in this footage. (01:59:42) Opens to vacant ampitheater stage - early evening, the festival is between performances, members of the Queen Ida and the Bon Temps Zydeco Band begin to take the stage (02:01:47) Festival host NAT TURNER introduces Queen Ida and the Bon Temps Zydeco Band with his "Don't Forget the Blues" audience participatory chant, Turner comments on the international significance of jazz and blues music (02:03:09 - 02:05:54) The Bon Temps launch into a funky zydeco groove, Queen Ida comes out on stage with her accordion wearing a blue sequened dress, checkered head band and heavy blue eye shadow, she plays her accordion (other members in the band play the guitar, fiddle, bass, drums, washboard, Queen Ida sings this song in Creole (02:05:55 - 02:08:54) The Bon Temps play another tune with lyrics in Creole, the other band members sing with Ida on the chorus, the band dances as it plays (02:09:27 - 02:12:52) The Bon Temps play another song, this one a little bluesier, Ida sings the lyrics in English - the chorus is "Every now and Then", Ida and the fiddler play licks off one another, there is a guitar solo (02:13:20 - 02:17:39) The Bon Temps play what they call a fiddle tune, it feature the fiddler who solos over a groove played by the rest of the band, it is an intense solo which goes to extremes in both speed and height of notes, the fiddler tensely dances around the stage looking ready to burst with every note played, audience members dance to this tune and many giving a standing ovation at its end (02:17:55 - 02:21:15) The Bon Temps play another song, Ida sings again about her missing baby, the fiddler at the song's start does an Elvis strut-dance, Ida solos on accordion (02:21:41 - 02:24:58) The Bon Temps play another song, this one sounds like barn yard hoe-down tune, Ida sings about dancing on Saturday night, the percussion player plays a jew's harp solo, fiddle solo (02:25:17 - 02:29:20) The Bon Temps play a blues song - "Tyrone", Ida sings and plays a soulful accordion solo, guitar solo, nice shot of Ida's hands at work on the accordion keys (02:30:30 - 02:33:37) The Bon Temps play a song called "Tell Me", it has a rock 'n' roll feel, members of the group sing background vocals for Ida, Audience members dance, bump butts, and just generally have a good time (02:33:50) The fiddler and the percussionist do a zydeco dance step together, unfortunately the shot goes quickly to the drummer and stays there (02:34:50 - 02:37:51) The Bon Temps play another song, Ida sings about partying to zydeco music in New Orleans, a bunch of people dance in the front row aisle, this song gets a standing ovation, the audience call for an encore (02:38:48) The Bon Temps play their encore and get the audience to clap along, Ida sings about her baby leaving her, many audience members dance, guitar solo (02:42:50) Festival host Turner segues to the second half of the show and announces a break | |
