| Description: | "Brightening Up the Parties": Silly party games from the 1920s. Fun! Starts w/ scene of Bright Young Things at a dull party: 3 couples at party; one man is chattering away but the others look bored. MCU young couple; she is straightening his tie. MS another couple stand together looking dull; he yawns. MS the talkative man still at it, w/ a woman who looks as if she's going to be sick. Back to orig. angle: the hostess wanders through, looks around & sees all the guests bored to tears, sits down in discouragement. But....."why not start the 'match box' game - ?" Hostess scurries to center of room, calls everyone to her, they all gather round. Next, the guests are all kneeling on the floor, playing this game in which they try to pass a matchbox lid from nose to nose. Ha ha! Titles suggest that those who drop the matchbox have to pay a forfeit by doing a silly trick for the amusement of the others. Then they show various funny "forfeits". MS man and woman stand c. 2' apart holding string between their mouths. They both start to"eat" the string. MCU 3 party guests laughing. MS the pair of string-eaters coming closer & closer until their lips touch; they fall apart, laughing. The next stunt is to lay a bottle on the floor, then sit on it and try to light a cigarette. This does not sound so difficult but these people have a lot of trouble. First a woman tries, but she keeps slightly losing her balance and giggling. Then a man tries and falls all the way over. Next an amateur contortionist stunt - at least that's what it looks like. A pencil is placed on the seat of a straight-backed chair w/ the end of the pencil at the back edge of the seat. A gentleman lies sideways across the chair, then twists himself around behind the back of the chair, keeping his feet off the floor, & grabs the pencil in his mouth. Once he's got it he struggles to raise himself back up - but instead the chair topples over while his cruel friends laugh in BG. Next, MS woman trying to bite an apple which is hanging from a string - she can't quite get it. MS 3 ladies at once trying to bite the apple. | |
