| Description: | BRISTLES AND BRUSHES how brushes are made from pig bristles. MCU worker using comb to make smooth bundles of boar bristles out of a tangled pile. MCU woman worker lays straight bristles across a board w/ thin grooves cut into it; she rubs a narrow board to rub the bristles across the grooves, which almost magically lengthens the bristles. CU s of bristles which have been cut into short pieces moving along a conveyor belt; pulley(?) moving back and forth. MCU worker's hands move block of wood around on a table w/ a narrow blade sticking up in the middle of it; he moves the wood against the blade to cut rounded edges. CU using another machine to smooth the edges of the wood piece. CU another machine cuts one side of wood piece concave. CU worker takes a block of wood th e same shape w/ small spikes sticking out of it; he places it spikes down on the piece he is working on and hits it with a mallet. This makes rows of tiny holes in the wood. CU worker using drill to enlarge these holes. ECU machine inserting bunches of bristles into each hole int the piece of wood. CU worker sliding the brush between 2 rails w/ bristles down (titles said varnishing the back of the bristles. MS worker polishing the backs of a row of brushes. | |
