M/S of a group of smartly dressed men on a building site, they are gathered around a large foundation block surrounded by fencing. A man in mayor's robes gives a speech, the other men clap. C/U of the foundation stone with writing engrave on the side: "City of Liverpool. This stone was laid by the right Hon the Lord Mayor Councillor F. C. Bowring on the 17th May, 1926". Panning L/S of a massive tram shed, its metal infrastructure is only half-constructed and is covered in scaffolding. Men work beneath the shed unloading stones and pushing wheelbarrows. | |
