Land being cleared prior to diamond prospecting. Men with dogs oversee the work. Some trees are knock down. Deep trenches are dug. "They wash for diamonds in the same way as for gold." C/Us of a man sifting (panning) for diamonds. A small amount of dirt is placed in a pan and it is washed in a small stream. "and it is indeed a welcome sight to these hard toilers when their labour meets with this reward." Man sorts the stones from the dirt. "The following collection of stones of varying weights is worth about 14,000. A collection of diamonds is displayed for the camera. The word "Diamonds" is laid out in the precious stones. | |
