| Description: | British fishing trawlers were accidentally shelled by the Russian Fleet, passing England en route to the Pacific at the start of the Russo-Japanese War in 1904. The Russians mistook the trawlers for Japanese vessels and fired on them, sinking one vessel, killing 2 men & wounding 6; 2 other ships were damaged but without casualties Film shows these vessels, captain & crew of the S.T. "Moulmein", and damage from shells. This caused an international incident nearly leading Britain to war with Russia. Opens with shot of ships in harbor; men on board some of them; people walking on shore. Then closer shot of one of boats; several people on deck. Cu men showing damage to part of boat. Shots of different parts of boat. Cu fisherman with hat; white beard; then a couple guys. Young man wearing suit; cap; standing outside house, takes cap off. Same guy standing with family--mother and four younger brothers? Probably the family of one of the men killed? | |
