| Description: | CAMERA INTERVIEWS - WILL HAY Nice but incomplete film of Will Hay performing one of his "schoolmaster" sketches. The comedian appears in a school sketch MCU mischievous schoolboy (wearing mortarboard cap) drawing a silly caricature on the chalkboard, with the caption "Our Teecher". An ancient man who actually seems to be a fellow pupil totters up, nearly sneezes from the chalk dust and gets an idea which he suggests to the boy. The boy takes a rag or handkerchief hanging on a peg by the chalkboard, pours a bunch of ink on it and puts it back. (There must be a section missing here, in which the schoolmaster sees the drawing and gets the ink on himself.) MCU Schoolmaster stands at blank chalkboard, writes on it in upside down writing. As he turns around one can see that his face is half covered with ink. MCU the schoolboy raising his hand. Back to schoolmaster as he turns the board upside down; the writing reads "Silence in this School". LS boy answers door; a woman enters. CU Schoolmaster w/ lower half of his face black, smiling and nodding. CU woman shocked, then starts to get the giggles, CU Schoolmaster looking dismayed. CU the lady laughing hysterically and pointing. Continues w/ more of this; the woman finally exits, still laughing. Schoolmaster looks in mirror and discovers the trick. LS master grabs the boy and canes him viciously. | |
