| Description: | "CAREERS FOR GIRLS - How NOT to be a Secretary - Introducing Joan Fay". A bored secretary at work does everything she can to avoid typing 'dreary letters'. London Various shots show glamorous brunette Joan Fay as a bored secretary. Her desk is covered with parcels and she looks in a mirror to put on her lipstick. Commentator says the boss is "paying you to be a secretary, not an oomph girl"! Joan fluffs her hair. To avoid typing "those dreary letters", Joan rings up her boyfriend. Commentator puts on an effeminate voice and imagines what Joan is saying - quite sarcastic! She apparently arranges to meet him at the pictures later. She can't do any typing because she can't read her shorthand. She puts a stick of gum in her mouth and chews away with a vacant expression on her face, twirling on her chair and twiddling a pencil. She starts to read a magazine, leaning on her typewriter, then takes the gum out of her mouth and sticks it on a saucer. She starts to write a letter to "boyfriend number two" and eats an apple to help her concentrate - good C/U of Joan crunching and looking like a dope. She then picks up her bag and walks out, fed up with the boss's demands and "his eternal work work work". | |
