| Description: | CARNIVAL TIME - AT THE C.E.A. CONFERENCE BRIGHTON Fancy dress party for the Cinematograph Exhibitors Association - some great costumes. Brighton Nighttime shot of crowd of couples dancing. Most are wearing evening wear but a few are dressed up in more exotic costumes. CU man turns & looks at camera. MS same man seems to be calling out to someone. Back to shot of dancers bouncing past. Wider shot of the crowded dancefloor. Exhibition dancers Franklyn Graham and Barbara perform a dramatic version of the waltz, with lots of spins and dips, while crowd watches from around edge of dancefloor. MS group of friends pose, mostly girls. Guy in FG wearing velvet jacket and bandanna graps girl's slouchy hat and pulls it down over her face. More of Frank & Barbara, now dancing the one-step. The Grand Parade. Those in fancy dress parade single file past the rest of the crowd. First the men, dressed as cowboys, Indians, Egyptian pharaohs, Turkish sultans, etc. etc. MLS pan on crowd watching and marking ballots. Then a bunch of women march past looking like a History of Fashion pageant. Looks like a stray Rajah is with them. Next, a small cowboy, c. age 5 rides a pony by. Then groups of girls, w/ each group representing a theme. The first ones come sashaying along, dressed in checked skirts and berets w/ feathers sticking up. Next come more young girls dressed as Argentine cowboys. Continues w/ more people in costumes. MS group of people: girl in cowboy costume, w/ corncob pipe, in center, w/ several people in formal wear around her. MLS the French contingent pose in a row, a couple of them wiggling about. More groups of people of various ages. MCU 2 partygoers talking & laughing: one wears a powdered wig and an 18th century dress. May be either a woman or a man in drag, the other is an older woman. MLS crowd back on the dancefloor, all moving along to rt. | |
