| Description: | Tape 7550 B Charlie Chaplin visits Paris in 1931 and is greeted at the railroad station by a delirious mob of fans. Fun opening cartoon drawing of Chaplin as a spring-limbed figure on top of the Eiffel Tower surrounded by cheering crowd; with this a handwritten intro (French. - -'the great comic is welcomed at the Gare de Lyon by lively fans." ) Shot looking over heads of crowd jammed in front of the station; an aisle is kept clear for Chaplin to walk to his car; Chaplin and others come out and start toward car. MS in crowd of Chaplin w/ bodyguards being mobbed by crowd as he tries to get through - -almost kinda scary. Back to LS as he somehow makes it into car; photographers swarming around it taking pictures and almost have to be pushed away by the car which immediately starts rolling & drives out of picture. Crowd watching it drive away. | |
