| Description: | Entertainment. Girls walking around corner of a brick building (bleak looking day; bare trees) dressed in all manner of strange costumes -- they are on their way to a theatre for a Charity Pageant; and they seem to be portraying people through the ages. Leading are some 17th-18th century ladies; then a girl carrying a pole with a picture of some woman on it. A girl in a long white belted gown and a headband; some sort of Grecian vestal virgin? There are a few girls dressed as men; including one in Robin Hood outfit; carrying an arrow and a flute or recorder. Along with her walk several sheperdesses with ruffled caps carrying flowering branches. Behind them there is someone with some fish on a string. A Knight or crusader or two; a girl with a sort of Viking headdress. Some in Church costumes; and a goddess of some sort in robes draped round her; a crown; and a big golden pendant. A couple people in big weird conical things; like fir trees. A girl with a pyramid on her head. Another in a chef outfit; carrying a silver platter cover. All in all; a bizarre mixture. The funny thing besides the costumes is that they are scurrying and hurrying along in them; almost running; and they make such a contrast to the drab setting. Ends with a CU of a door in the building. (?) | |
