| Description: | CHILDREN'S CINEMA (aka CHILDREN'S MATINEE) Films made by children aided by the British film industry for Children's matinee's Kent. M/S of two boys running along a seashore being chased by a man with a pistol. They make their escape by rowing boat, before the man is overpowered by a small girl and two Redcoat soldiers. M/S The action then turns to the camera and the film crew that have been shooting the scene, a man shouts 'Cut'. It is revealed to us by the commentator this is a film school for children to make films "by children, for children.". We see various shots of the children being given lessons in how to perform in front of the camera. We next see children entering a cinema for the Saturday matinee. They all enter the auditorium and sit down. The manager gives a run down of the days events. The proceedings begin with a woman (Mrs Tate?) and her two performing collies!. This is followed by the special guest star Bernard Bresslaw!, who proceeds to trip over on the stage three times. This meets with howls of laughter from the audience. The feature film we saw being made at the start of the film is shown to the children, who obviously enjoy it immensely. We see various shots of children laughing, and looking excited and intrigued by this special children's film. | |
