| Description: | Entertainment on ship; 1920s. Very good to excellent quality raw footage of dancers; musicians; etc. who perform; pose and act silly for the camera on board the Cunard liner Lancastria. Various shots of "rehearsal"; w/ the entertainers wearing street clothes. Dancers; mostly women w/ a few young men; perform choreography typical of chorus dancers in musicals- -energetic time steps; kick lines etc. The chorus girls pretend to mob a male actor who doesn't really look much like idol material; a few shots of them all crowding around him; or running in a group. Good shots of musicians in the band: CU profile of piano player playing; w/ cigarette hanging out of his mouth. CU drummer playing. Saxophone section; etc. in groups. Girls climbing up the rigging; their skirts blowing around- -but not too much. CU man and woman pose w/ their heads stuck through ship's life ring (name of ship RMS "Lancastria") The entertainers are probably leaving on this ship for the USA where they no doubt expect to achieve fame and fortune. Theatre; musical comedy; wacky; jazz; entertainment; "Roaring Twenties"; celebrities. | |
