Sculptor - painter Bainbridge Copnall is seen walking across his garden with some sheets of coloured glass under his arm. LS Mr. Copnall walking through garden. MS Ditto. MLS Ditto walking towards glasshouse. MS Arrives at glasshouse door puts down sheet of glass. Outside a greenhouse he takes a mallet and smashes the glass into small pieces. MS Picks up hammer. CU Man raises hammer. CU Smashes glass. MLS Picks up glass and puts it into box. MS Opens door and walks into glasshouse. Various shots of Bainbridge and his assistants at work on sections of a huge mural made mosaic-style from bits of coloured glass; the mural shows Sir Winston Churchill in his Garter robes surrounded by wartime battles. CU Ditto. MS Takes piece of glass from box - starts to shape it with pliers. On table in front of him we see glass picture of Sir Winston Churchill which Mr. Copnall is making. CU Breaking glass with pliers. MS Ditto - he looks under table to see reflection of picture picks up piece of glass and examines it. MS Woman working. MS She turns towards us leans over table. When finished, the mural was to form part of a redevelopment scheme at Dudley in Worcestershire. Bainbridge works on two Churchill faces for the mural. Other parts of the mural show Big Ben; St Paul's Cathedral in flames during the Blitz. | |
