| Description: | CIRCUS HOURS Bostock's Three-Ring Circus. Bostock's Three Ring Circus is featured - various acts including juggling, high wire, clowns etc. United Kingdom Nice shot of circus ring, w/horses trotting round in a circle while a lesser number of small ponies or miniature horses go round an outer circle in the opposite direction. Then just the horses alone in the ring. After running around a bit they all line up it a row and in unison they raise themselves up on their hind legs alone. Next, a parade across the stage, a bizarre group of characters in strange costumes and garish papier mâché masks; several are teetering along on stilts. Closer shot of guy w/ weird grinning mask, followed by some wobbly stilt legs; pan up up up the tallest of these sets of legs, in striped pants, to a swaying body topped with a white face and a top hat, like a hallucination of Uncle Sam. Matsumoto Egawa troupe of acrobats. MLS man lying on his back twirling pole w/ his feet. Wider shot of same; at rt. the foot pole twirler, at left a woman lies on her back balancing things on their feet, while in the ctr. a contortionist contorts. MS woman's feet holding up 3 boxes w/ a barrel on top. Back to wider shot: she raises her legs, lifting the whole stack, then another girl crawls out of the barrel. MLS woman crawling on top of the barrel. Next, tightrope walker. carrying parasol, walks up a rope slanting upwards. Closer shot of same. Wide shot of same looking across as he reaches theatre box on opposite side. LS pan w/ tightrope walker as he goes sliding (!!) backward down the rope. Audience applause. Juggler Jean Florian. Wide shot of Florian on stage as a man hands him his rings, etc. MLS Florian balances pole on his head while spinning hoop round his leg and juggling rings! Back to wide shot same. MLS He next balances one ball on the back of his neck, another on his foot and suddenly sort of jumps and changes them round! Wide shot ring w/ lions & lion tamer in cage. Next, polar bears in cage. Next, zebras running around ring. Clowns, incl. some dressed as animals. LS clowns climbing out of ring and into audience. Clowns fighting in audience. Going back to ring. | |
