| Description: | same as catalog # 504757 Cities of Britain (No. 4) - Derby. Described by His Worship the Mayor, Councillor Wm. Harold Hoare. Derby, Derbyshire. Various shots of the busy streets of Derby. Several shots of Derby Cathedral, the sixteenth century tower and the view from it. We also see the ancient market and the old Mayor's Parlour with timbered front. Crowds of people listen to a band playing in a park (The Arboretum ?) and watch others go boating on an artificial lake. Children fish and paddle in smaller lakes. More people wander along the banks of the River Trent. Several shots show the railway works where steam engines are being built. More men are at work in the largest malleable casting foundry in the world. Motor cars and aeroplane parts are made in other factories - good factory shots. | |
