| Description: | "CLEAR THE LINE - Double track required to transport 30-ton generator casing." London. High angle shot of a train moving very slowly transporting the 42 ton Stator Yoke for the Battersea Power Station. Stator yoke is very high and wide, meaning it needed additional clearance and no other train could pass on a parallel track (that's what's meant by the somewhat misleading "double track" comment). It had to go on a round about journey from Manchester to London to avoid bridges and such that were too short or to narrow. Shot of train arriving to station, with the generator casing sticking out several feet onto the platform. According to the commentary, extra staff had been detailed to keep waiting passengers back from the track when this train passed. Man inspecting it. Train moving slowly along the tracks. | |
