MLS a small Brighton Fire Brigade truck comes driving over the headland; it stops and several firemen spring out, grab equipment and go running. Various shots of the men working quickly. MS man braces the wheels of a ladder wagon. LS / MS one fireman tosses end of rope over side (other end is tied to that wagon); he puts a bag over his shoulder and then hooks the middle of the rope to his belt; another fireman kneels at the top of the cliff as the rescuer goes over the side LS fireman rappelling down the cliff. LS he runs to the body. LS another rescuer comes sliding down rope. MS both kneel by the victim, turn him over. LS other rescuers at top of cliff now move the ladder closer to edge securing it by steel pins. A short ladder and straps, etc. , attached to rope hanging from the end of the ladder and lowered over the cliff. LS (from edge of water) pan down with ladder as it is lowered. Various shots of the 2 workers at the bottom ......(narrator is saying "No, they're not too late - -he's not dead.") CU they put fire helmet over his face to protect it. as they get the victim onto the ladder/stretcher and attached to hook. MS they hold onto ends of the ladder as it begins to be pulled up. LS they watch as it is hauled on up. Fire brigade workers at top pull ropes to swing the ladder/stretcher away from edge of cliff and lower it onto the grass. | |
