Fade in on step ladder, and bring in by stop-motion cans of paint, a girl seated cross legged on the floor, near the ladder, the huge book she is reading. She moves, and the ladder falls and spills paint to produce the background for the titles and credits, whjch superimpose. Montage of flowers, nature, sunrise, fall trees, various colors, sea, and finally a sprinkling of colors form a spiral and blend to fill the screen with blue, diss to blue ocean; red, dissolves to fire, yellow dissolves to flower. Three primary colors--red, blue, yellow, circle to form variety of colors. Diss to paint in vat at factory, being strirred, various paint colors change and are stirred, form a color wheel and diss to a blend of steel blue colors. Diss to color wheel, fade to fire, calm sea, dark gloom; pine needles against the sky; red sunset time lapse. Fade in on stills of rooms with colors. Back to the girl, now wiping up her spilled paints. She reacts to narrator Mort Linder's questions, "what kind of person are you?" and becomes a fanciful artist; pan to her simple tic tac toe painting. She becomes a decorator, and gets tangled in her drapery. She studies, reading a book as she lounges on the floor, foot against the wall; while reading, oblivious to the camera, she turns over to a new position. Cut back to her as she was in the opening, with her face now painted from colors she has inadvertently wiped on. She looks in the mirror, and sees....herself as a blue dancer; herself as a vivacious warm red; herself as sober and genteel in green; her self cheerful, dances, whirls, back to the mirror. She looks away and a frame appears, with various faces of her family, from happy to glowering. Cut to model of house, and to boy's bedroom. She prepares a notebook. The boy is seen upside down, through his legs; he is turning a somersault, and inverts to a smile. Model is now up a tree--literally. Pan to downtown street, do double take on the window displaying the colors she likes. We see a complete color scheme for Jimmy's room, and stop-motion in actual swatches of cloth, fabrics, his cap. We now see 6 panels, with Jimmy's room color scheme at top. Blend to another panel, and fabrics appear, swatches, samples, Diss to ballet dancer fabric pattern, and build up another pattern. Color wheel is shown, with complementary colors selected. Teal bedroom plan appears. Another young girl's bedroom has warm peach colors; color wheel now shows related colors. Diss to a room sample with swatches. Umber wheel appears with the tints and shades illustrated. Brown fall color scheme appears, Third plan is monochromatic, and fabrics and materials carry this scheme out, for the master bedroom. The six completed panels are now shown full screen. Fade out and FI on actual home pix of rooms; Camera pans to show details, and cuts to different rooms. The color schemes seen above, are used here. FO and FI on blending brown colors, as they stir, pure colors appear and finally the spiral becomes a pile of paint pigments (stop motion sequence, reversed on playback) Films ends with closeup of thge model who opened the film, her face spotted with paints, winking at the camera. 575' 16mm sound color print on gray metal Compco reel in gray metal Compco 600' film can. Frink (FFV 5) has A and B rolls, original, original overs, mag and opt tracks, ancillary materials.
