| Description: | COMIC DANCE dance from "The Punch Bowl". "But in "Chili Bom-Bom" Sonnie Hale shows Hermione Baddeley this "treat-em-rough" dance". Dancing w/ female chorus who are all dressed in "grass skirts" and weird pointy hats; "primitive" set w/ grass hut, etc. Titles call this a "treat 'em rough dance" and Miss B. is sort of like a battered woman in it! First they do something approximating jumping jacks, then twist from side to side, then he lifts her up over his shoulder, holds her up then drops her; she falls into a split; he lifts her by the armpits, spins her around a couple times then drops her on the stage and runs off!! The chorus dancers lift her horizontal body over their heads and carry her off; the man comes back in a silly walk and is dragged offstage by the rest of the chorus. Hermione Baddeley later played character part on US television. | |
