| Description: | CONCRETE SCULPTOR Contemporary artist Sean Rice presents his sculptures. Some made of concrete - very cold! Hove, East Sussex. C/U shot of the hands in rubber gloves mixing concrete in a bowl. Cut to a M/S of the face of a man mixing concrete. He is Sean Rice, teacher at the West Sussex College of Art who makes sculptures out of concrete. M/S of Mr Rice working. One of his sculptures can be seen standing next to him - a very tall man carrying something on his back. He starts working on the sculpture. The sculpture is called "David and Absalom" and Mr Rice is applying finishing touches to it. C/U shot of a small amount of concrete being applied to an arm of the statue. C/U shot of artist's face. Although only 27 years old, Mr Rice has already won the famous "Prix de Rome" award which kept him in Italy for two years. Panning C/U shot of finished sculpture called "Boy with Fish" also made in concrete. M/S of great sculpture of a man with hat holding a large traditional Mediterranean wine bottle, demijohn. Sculpture is called "Demijohn" and is cast in fibreglass. C/U shot of the head of a man carrying demijohn. C/U shot of an abstract sculpture made in wax. C/U shot of "Abraham and Isaac" sculpture made in Italian sandstone. "Finally, something inspired by his hobby - motorcycling". Sculpture called "Juggernaut" - a man on motorcycle with another man fixing it (or a sidecar, not a man at all). Strange looking and very cold piece of work. It resembles the architectural style of council estates. Mr Rice finishing something on his motorcycle sculpture. | |
