This segment pertains to people registering for the write-in candidacy in an upcoming mayoral election. The first person to sign up is Mrs. Cotner. She is a classy lady dressed in a white trench coat. She approaches the counter and states "I'm ready, ready as I'll ever be". She doesn't sound all that enthusiastic about being there. Shot of a group of women showing their support. Mrs. Cotner signs a document, the camera zooms in on her hands and paper. Her finger nails are polished with a shimmery coat, her ring finger supports a wedding ring. Cotner takes her receipt and puts it into an envelope. As she turns to move away from the counter, you can see that her white hair is neatly styled in a bun. People clap and shake her hand. Shot of a second candidate who is a younger male. He is opening a white envelope that contains the $50 registration fee. Camera zooms in on his hands opening the envelope. Interview with the candidate, who happens to be the son of the current mayor. (Perk) The man has a mustache and is wearing tinted glasses. Shot of a reporter making commentary while standing in front of a curtain of red, white and blue. CU of hands opening an envelope and taking paper out. Shot of woman standing and sorting through a box of paper ballots. Interview with an African-American man.
